Prelude Morning Prelude    E. M. Read

Edward Mason Read (1846-1936), born in Vermont and student of Samuel B. Whitney (Church of the Advent, Boston), was an organist and representative of the Estey Organ Co. in St. Louis.  His prelude from 1906 has contrasting melodies with colorful organ stops.

The Procession Hymn (#485) is a 19th translation from a 12th century Latin poem attributed to St. Bernard of Clairvaux, a French Cistercian monk who founded 69 monasteries.

Reward them that wait for Thee, O Lord: and let Thy Prophets be found faithful. (from Nehemiah 1:6) Hear the prayer of Thy servants: and of thy people Israel. (Psalm 122:1) I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.

(Psalm 110:1) The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit Thou at My right hand, until I make Thine enemies Thy footstool.
