14- Seventh Sunday after Trinity
Seventh Sunday after Trinity July 14, 2024 INTROIT. Omnes gentes. Ps. 47 O CLAP your hands together, all ye people: O sing unto God with the voice of melody. Ps. ibid. For the Lord is high and to be feared: he is the great king upon all the earth. V. Glory be. COLLECT. LORD of all power and might, who art the author and giver of all good things: graft in our hearts the love of thy Name, increase in us true religion; nourish us with all goodness, and of thy great mercy keep us in the same; through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN. EPISTLE. Romans 6:19-23 19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. 20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. 21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. 22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. GRADUAL. Ps. 34 Come, ye children, and hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord. V. They had an eye unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. Alleluia, alleluia. V. Ps. 47 O clap your hands together, all ye people: sing unto God with the voice of melody. Alleluia GOSPEL. St. Mark 8:1-9 1 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them, 2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat: 3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far. 4 And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness? 5 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven. 6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people. 7 And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them. 8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets. 9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away. OFFERTORY. Ps. 18 Thou shalt save the people that are in adversity, O Lord, and shalt bring down the high looks of the proud: for who is God, but the Lord? SECRET. WE BESEECH thee, O Lord, to have compassion on our prayers, and graciously to accept the oblations of thy faithful people: and to the intent that none may ask amiss or fail in his petitions, grant, we beseech thee, that what we ask faithfully, we may obtain effectually. [Through.] COMMUNION. Ps. 31 Bow down thine ear: make haste to deliver us. POSTCOMMUNION. O LORD, who hast vouchsafed to satisfy us with these thy gifts: grant, we beseech thee; that the same may ever cleanse us by their operation, and defend us by their succour. 21- Eighth Sunday after Trinity
Eighth Sunday after Trinity July 21, 2024 INTROIT. Suscepimus. Psalm 48 WE have waited for thy loving-kindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple: O God, according to thy Name, so is thy praise unto the world's end: thy right hand is full of righteousness. Ps. ibid. Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised: in the city of our God, even upon his holy hill. V. Glory be. COLLECT. O GOD, whose never-failing providence ordereth all things both in heaven and earth: we humbly beseech thee to put away from us all hurtful things, and to give us those things which are profitable for us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. EPISTLE. Romans 8:12-17 12 BRETHREN, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. GRADUAL. Ps. 31 Be thou my strong rock and house of defence, that thou mayest save me. V. In thee, O Lord, have I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. Alleluia, alleluia. V. Ps. 48. Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised: in the city of our God, even upon his holy hill. Alleluia. GOSPEL. St. Matthew 7:15-21 15 AT that time; Jesus said to his disciples: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. OFFERTORY. Ps. 18. Thou shalt save the people that are in adversity, O Lord, and shalt bring down the high looks of the proud: for who is God, but the Lord? SECRET. O GOD, who didst ratify the manifold sacrifices of the law by the one perfect sacrifice of our redemption: mercifully accept the oblation of thy bounden servants, and sanctify them with that benediction wherewith thou didst bless the gifts of Abel thy servant; that what each hath offered to the honour of thy majesty may be profitable unto all for their salvation. Through. COMMUNION. Ps. 34. O taste and see how gracious the Lord is: blessed is he that putteth his trust in him. POSTCOMMUNION GRANT, O Lord, that the power of thy healing may mercifully cleanse us from all our perversities: and lead us henceforth in the paths of righteousness. Through. 28- Ninth Sunday after Trinity
Ninth Sunday after Trinity July 28, 2024 INTROIT. Ecce Deus. Ps. 54. BEHOLD, God is my helper, the Lord is with them that uphold my soul: reward thou evil unto mine enemies: and destroy thou them in thy truth, O Lord my defender. Ps. ibid. Save me, O God, for thy Name's sake : and avenge me in thy strength. V.Glory be. COLLECT. GRANT to us, Lord, we beseech thee, the spirit to think and do always such things as are right: that, we who cannot do any thing that is good without thee, may by thee be enabled to live according to thy will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN. EPISTLE. 1 Corinthians 10:1-13 1 BRETHREN: I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. GRADUAL. Ps. 9. O Lord our Governour, how excellent is thy Name in all the world. V. Thou that hast set thy glory above the heavens. Alleluia. alleluia. V. Ps. 59. Deliver me from mine enemies, O God: defend me from them that rise up against me. Alleluia. GOSPEL. St. Luke 15:11-32 11 AT that time: JESUS said: A certain man had two sons: 12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. 13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. 15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. 17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, 19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. 20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. 22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: 23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. 25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. 28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and entreated him. 29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: 30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. 31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. 32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found. OFFERTORY. Ps. 19. The statutes of the Lord are right, and rejoice the heart, sweeter also than honey, and the honeycomb: and moreover thy servant keepeth them. SECRET. ACCEPT, O Lord, we pray thee, the gifts which of thine own bounty we do offer unto thee: that by the powerful operation of thy grace these holy mysteries may sanctify our conversation in this life present, and bring us in the end to everlasting felicity. [ Through.] COMMUNION. St. John 6. He that eateth my Flesh and drinketh my Blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him, saith the Lord. POSTCOMMUNION. GRANT, O Lord, we pray thee, that these heavenly mysteries may renew us both in body and soul: that we which have therein offered unto thee our outward worship, may inwardly feel the effectual benefit of the same.
